Tubes In. Adenoids Out. Tonsils Out.

So, we went to a Pediatric ENT again on Monday to discuss the issues Landon has been having with his ears and throat. Since May he has had 4 cases of strep throat, 5 cases of tonsillitis, and 7 ear infections. It has really been bad these past 2 months as he is always sick. The audiologist discovered fluid behind his left ear that showed up on the tympanogram as well as the examination. When we went to another ENT back in August/September he did not have any fluid or as many cases of ear and throat infections. So, it is definitely getting worse and out of control.....it is suppose to be at its peak between 6-24 months and then get better. Not with Landon! So, after conferring with our fantastic pediatrician on Tuesday she was 100% certain that having ear tubes put in and the adenoids and tonsils removed would be in Landon's best interest. She also now discovered fluid in both ears and enlarged, red tonsils AGAIN, just since Monday. There are many other issues that Landon is having that are thought to be caused by the enlarged adenoids and tonsils as well.

Landon is scheduled to have surgery on March 18th at Texas Children's Hospital with a possibility that he will have to stay over night (50% chance depending on the bleeding from the tonsil removal). Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers, especially on the day of surgery and during the 7-10 days of recovery. I am not nervous or worried about the tubes and adenoids, but am about the tonsils since there is more involved, more pain, and a longer recovery period. At this point I am trying not to think or worry about the surgery. I have not been feeling 100% lately and have been having some contractions and other issues (I am now having to go to the doctor every 2 weeks to have my cervix checked), so worrying will only make it worse.

Today was Rodeo Day at Landon's school. He actually wore his cowboy hat and the teachers told me that he LOVED, LOVED the hotdogs. He apparently ate twice as much as the other kids. What a porker!! Here are some pictures that I took once we got home.

John Travolta Eat Your Heart Out

After taking a bath at Nana and Grandpa's house last night we realized that we did not have any P.J.'s for Landon to change into. So, Nana to the rescue......she pulled out a shirt and pair of pants from when Jason was 2 years old. Yes, from 1978!! We laughed so hard as Landon strutted around in his "Stayin' Alive Gear" and kept looking down at his flared pants trying to figure out what exactly he was wearing. He even imitated us by dancing like John Travolta. I wish I would of had my camera and video camera. So, a picture once we got home will have to do!

Big Brother in Action

Already such a big helper!! Helping Daddy prepare/paint Emerson's room with primer. More pictures to follow as most of the room was completed this past weekend. But, there is still some painting left to do.

When Will it End????

After only 1 week of good health, or so we thought, Landon suddenly came down with a high fever on Monday afternoon. He ran a high fever all Monday night and did not sleep much. By the time we took him to the doctor AGAIN on Tuesday he wasn't eating or drinking and in addition to the fever started to have congestion, cough, and a runny nose. So, he has now be diagnosed with strep throat and another double ear infection (3 in 5 weeks). We are on antibiotic #3 that has now caused oral thrush (bring on another medication!), diarrhea, and a diaper rash. He also gags and throws up the antibiotic so it is a battle, literally, twice a day to get the medicine down his throat and to stay in his stomach. Oh, and he also has a lovely bloody and skinned knee from falling on the concrete last night. Needless to say, I am frustrated, worried, and exhausted mentally and physically as he is not sleeping well during the night and is very cranky during the day. We have been going through this roller coaster battle since January 5th.

We have an appointment on February 25th to see another Pediatric ENT to assess the situation and discuss tubes, tonsil removal, and adenoid removal and to also have more hearing tests run again. I will do whatever the specialist says is best for my sweet little boy as I am not liking all of these medications that he is on and hate to see him suffer and not enjoy life, as a little 2 year old boy should. I want some answers and am ready for a happy and healthy month or two!! Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Palestine Trip

We headed to Palestine this past weekend to visit Mimi and Papaw since I won't be able to travel much longer and we won't be able to see them until this summer when they come to meet little Miss Emerson. It was so much fun and of course Landon had a blast and was spoiled with attention. He stayed outside pretty much the whole time as the weather was beautiful and there was so much to see and do....ride in the pretend car, ride on the tricycle, swing, play with all the toys, throw the balls, chase the dog and cat, dance to the music from the tricycle (absolutely hilarious to watch!), etc. We also went to visit some cousins and got to pet and feed several mares. He LOVED the horses and was not scared in the least bit. He would of stayed with the horses all day if he had it his way! Looks like we might have to move to the country one day so we can have tons of cows, horses, pigs, cats, and dogs as Landon is just like his mom, an absolute animal lover.

Fun at 2

2 year olds have so much fun as they are active, never sit still, are into everything, and LOVE to play pretend. That is what Landon mostly does on a daily basis. Oh, and have some tantrums and vists to time-out in between!

It is amazing what he understands and "soaks up" even when you don't realize it. Especially when it comes to cooking and things around the house. There are a million stories I could tell, but most recently he grabs his dishes, pots, and pans out of his shopping cart that hold all of his pretend food/kitchen items and takes them to the kitchen and attempts to set them on the stove. But, in one of these pots (shaped just like our pots) he placed the pretend baby bottle and was "warming" the bottle. I guess the few times he has seen Barrett's bottle on the stove he remembered because I never showed him. He also set the table today and was eating his snack off of his pretend plates. Too cute! Hopefully I will remember to take pictures next time.

Fill er' Up

We decided to head outside this morning for about 2 hours to play since it was not too cold or raining and Landon was finally not sick (or at least I hope so). We played toss, basketball, went on a long walk, wrote on the driveway with sidewalk chalk (and got covered in it!), rode in the Cozy Coupe Car and pumped gas, played with the pretend BBQ pit and grilled some hotdogs, chased the dog, ran away from Mommy, and even ran in dog poop! What an eventful morning!






This is what happens when you tell a 2 year old "do not go in the street" or "no". Constantly testing the limits!! He would put one foot barely in the street and then turn and look at me.

All while smiling and laughing about it! Stinker!

Boo Boo

Here is what happens when Landon and Daddy horse play. Landon came down hard on Daddy's leg (both are very accident prone). He did not really cry too much despite being a drama queen. His eye was pretty swollen and he even held the ice pack on there for a long time. But, it looks fine this morning.......fast healer!

Daddy's Lil' Helper

These days Landon is all about helping and getting involved in EVERYTHING you do. Yesterday he helped Daddy with Emerson's room by handing him nails as he was nailing in the chair rail. Of course Landon continued handing him nail after nail and pretty much right in his face! He definitely is a helper and we are making sure to include him in all of the aspects (appropriate for a 2 year old) of preparing for Emerson especially since he is shy, clingy, and super sensitive lately. He almost is like a different kid on most days.

Zoo Trip with Grandpa

On Friday we took another trip to the Houston Zoo and invited Grandpa to come along with us. It was so much fun despite the flat tire we got due to nails, the cold weather, and the colds/infections that Landon and I were getting over. Each time we go Landon finds something new to do or has a different favorite activity.....he really loves the zoo! His favorite this time was the area at the Children's Zoo that had buttons to push that played different animal sounds. He pushed buttons and laughed hysterically for about 10 minutes and could of stayed there all day long. He especially liked the otter and turkey sounds. It was so funny to watch! He also loved the playground as long as I was close to him at all times.....he is going through the shy and clingy stage big time as we think he knows and senses all of the changes going on. May 22nd should be very, very interesting!

Sick of Being Sick...

What a month January was!! Landon was sick from January 5th until yesterday. I took him back to the doctor on Tuesday after 10 days of antibiotics and he still had an ear infection and a very red sore throat. So we started another antibiotic again and I think he is finally better. He has at least slept through the night two nights in a row! Yeah! I felt like he was a baby again (he was preparing me for Emerson's arrival in May!). Then, I was sick all week long with either a sinus infection or the same infection Landon had. I was absolutely miserable from Monday-Friday and could not even sleep. But, I am so much better now and sleep never felt better! But, of course we could not stop there.....Jason has been sick since Friday with the same crud!! I am ready for a healthy February!

On other note, I failed my 1 hour glucose test last week. I scored the exact same number as I did with Landon and will AGAIN be heading to the doctor on Wednesday for the fun 3 hour fasting glucose test. I have to be in Katy at 8am and can eat nothing after midnight the night before. I will be one hungry pregnant chick after my test is over around 11:30!! Please pray that I am just a "borderline" case (as I was with Landon) and do not have gestational diabetes. The thought of being put on a diabetic diet does not sound enticing to me as well as the possible complications that can occur to the baby or during labor!
