Turkey Day

On Thanksgiving morning we headed up to Chappell Hill to celebrate Thanksgiving with Jason's side of the family at his aunt and uncle's farm house. The kids had a blast as they played outside for hours. It was pretty chilly and windy at first but eventually warmed up. The kids played with their cousin Barrett, toys, balls, "poop rocks" (don't ask!), the dog, rode the 4-wheeler, hung out with the tame cows, ate a delicious feast, and much more. Emerson was more into feeding Aunt Alice her food and Landon was so busy playing that he didn't want to stop to eat. He ate the majority of his meal while riding the tricycle! It was a fun time with all the family. We came home around 3pm, put the kids down for a nap after an exhausting long day, and started putting up all of the Christmas decorations. We then watched the A&M and UT game. It was a great game and I believe we had the horns scared for a bit. I was so proud of how the Aggies played, but they should of won that game! Oh well, there is always next year as McCoy and Shipley will be gone!

On Friday we spent the day at my parents house celebrating Thanksgiving as they were at the A&M game on Thursday. My grandparents came down for the weekend and it was so nice to get to see them. The kids sure do love Mimi and Papaw as that was all Landon talked about all week long. He couldn't wait for them to come to his house. Landon was being silly most of the weekend and Emerson ate like a pig. At Thanksgiving dinner she ate yougur bites, puffs, several servings of green bean casserole, pretty much every banana out of the fruit salad, and a piece of pumpkin pie with whipped cream. She LOVED the pie and ate most of it all by herself with a fork as she got mad when my dad tried to feed it to her. This girl loves her sweets as she will eat mostly anything that is a dessert.....she must of got that from me and all of the junk and sweets I ate when I was pregnant with her! It was a great time with family and we look forward to Christmas.

Thanksgiving Parties

On Tuesday the kids had their Thanksgiving parties at school. Emerson's was in the morning during drop-off time and they had a Thanksgiving snack and sang some Thanksgiving songs and activities. Of course she was more interested in walking around the room playing instead of sitting and eating. She went from toy to toy playing and doing her own thing while every other kid sat at the table and ate (although most of them were tied in so they didn't fall out of the chair). Apparently, she should of been tied down too! She definitely has a mind of her own! Landon had his Thanksgiving feast during lunch time. They had Chick-fil-a nuggets, tator tots, cheese, fruit, rolls, cookies, and juice. The table was all decorated and the kids came in wearing their turkey day attire. So cute! Nana came with us too to enjoy the feast. Jason went and picked up Emerson from her classroom towards the end of the feast as we told her teachers not to put her down for a nap. Landon was really surprised to see her. Their reactions were so cute!

Landon did his usual shy act while we were there. For some reason he always acts so differently and is so shy every time we attend a school event over the past 3 years. He gets clingy and won't participate in anything or play with the other kids. The teachers are always so amazed at how differently he acts. He even cried when he dropped a nugget and the teacher said that was the first time she has ever heard him cry/scream. Each year the teachers all say the same thing. So strange! But, at least he is good at school all the time and acts out only at home.

Houston Autorama 2009

We went up to the Autorama at the GRB on Wednesday to finish cleaning up the truck and to add the finishing touches. It was an adventure to say the least with both kids in tow! I took the kids around to look at everything and in search of Hudson Hornet from the Cars movie. When we found him Landon jumped out of the stroller asking "Can I touch him?". He was so excited! I couldn't contain Emerson for very long in the stroller before she was all over the truck display touching the clean truck and lugging all of the cleaning supplies everywhere. She is something else! Landon did fine until the speaker system malfunctioned causing a VERY loud static noise to come on and off for a long time. So, he spent the rest of the time with his hands over his ears waiting for the next set of loud sounds. So, pictures were hard to come by. We had to take a picture of Jason with the kids with Emerson in the stroller as that is the only way she will stay put. Crazy girl!

Landon's 1st Aggie Game

We headed up to Aggieland on Saturday with my parents for Landon's 1st Aggie football game. We had an INCREDIBLE time!! I love College Station and of course Aggie football. Each time I attend a game as an alumni a piece of me misses college life and Texas A&M (I don't miss standing up the entire game though!). The weather did not cooperate until around 3pm, but we still made the best of it. We first headed to pick up my brother who lives in College Station and then we went to visit the Bonfire Memorial that I have not been to yet. I haven't been back to the polo fields where Bonfire was held since 1999 (I was a junior) when I stood behind the yellow caution tape the morning that it fell with tears steaming down my face watching rescue workers retrieve the dead and injured. There is something about the 10 year anniversary that has gotten to me. Since last Tuesday I can't stop thinking about it and reliving all of the memories and emotions since November 18, 1999. I guess having kids of my own now really puts things into perspective. For me it was emotional visiting the memorial and reading about the 12 Aggies that lost their lives. After visiting the memorial in the appropriately dreary weather we headed over to Kyle Field for some food and fun. Landon got to participate in his first yell practice, meet the Yell Leaders, watch the Aggie Band play, cheer for the football players and coaches as they came off the buses (very cool!), watch the milking of a cow, and buy some goodies at the bookstore. We then headed into Kyle Field and of course the rain started again. It was VERY wet and cold for about the first hour. But, they still had the flyover by 2 amazing, fast, and very loud fighter jets. By 3pm the sun and blue skies appeared and it made for a great football game. We had great seats just 2 sections over from my parent's season tickets. We plan on getting season tickets for all 4 of us as soon as Emerson gets older and can control herself! The Aggies beat the Baylor Bears 38-3 in a very entertaining game with tons of penalities. Landon did very well and had a blast. Of course his favorite part was the planes, the Aggie band (he kept asking where Uncle Kenny was as he played in the band) and just people watching and talking away. Not sure he watched any of the game, but he thoroughly enjoyed himself. He talked about it all night and at school on Monday. After the game we stopped and ate some sandwiches for dinner and then went to Santa's Wonderland on our way back to Houston. Incredible Christmas lights! Pictures don't do it justice.
