Veteran's Day Cutie

Emerson loved practicing and performing her Veteran's Day song for us.  The program at school was changed from outside to inside due to the weather so we were not allowed to attend due to fire code.  Both kids were dressed and ready to sing on that day!  Landon not as much as he is not our performer like Emerson.  We are going to try a choir program in the spring for her called Texas Stars Youth Choir that I know she will love.

Busy, Busy

Our busy weeks are just flying on by.  We have filled it with Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, horse lessons, birthday parties, work, school, and fun.  I started work again the week of Halloween and at a new school 3 days a week doing part-time Title I Reading Intervention (4 days a week starting in January) and I love it.  I hate change but this change has been good and seamless.  I was at my previous school for 4 years.  I work with one of my best friends (I took over her position as she took on a full time 4th grade classroom role) so that helps too and the kids and teachers/staff are awesome.  It really was the easiest and smoothest transition and I am very happy.  I literally got a call from my friend one Sunday, the principal the next day, interviewed with 5 administrators the next day, and began work the day after that!  So far, so good!  Emerson is really loving Girl Scouts.  We have had 2 meetings and the moms and girls are all wonderful as well as the leaders and all of the girls already know each other from school.  Emerson and her best friend Anna are pretty goofy most of the time, but they have fun and 2 of the other 7 girls in our troop fit right in with their goofiness.  It's going to be a fun year!  We have also had a birthday lunch with Landon at school, Thanksgiving Feasts at the kids' schools, several family movie and popcorn nights by the fireplace which the kids love, a sick day with Emerson (a lovely virus that was just like strep throat)...thank goodness Grandma lives one street over so she could watch Emerson while I went to work and then she met me after work at the doctor's office, Jump Rope for Heart at school, two birthday parties for Sean and Brandon, horse lessons, and plenty of play time with Piggy.  Whew!  And December is more of the same!

Landon is 9!

Landon turned 9 on November 16th and we celebrated at home in the morning with donuts and the opening of the gifts from us as well as his big gift, a new electric scooter, from both sets of grandparents.  After lunch we headed to the movie theater to celebrate by watching Big Hero 6 with 17 of his friends, their parents, and our family.  The movie was really good and the kids enjoyed it.  After the movie we had pizza, cookie cake, and the kids tore into the Lego themed candy I had decorated on the table.  Then we opened up presents.  It was a nice party and fun was had by all.  When we got home, even though it was rainy and cold, Landon wanted to ride his new faster and upgraded scooter.  Emerson was thrilled because she got his old electric scooter and both kids have thoroughly enjoyed them.  I am still in disbelief that my baby is 9.  Does not seem possible.  :(
