Weekend Trip

This past weekend we went to visit my grandparents (Mimi and Papaw to the kids) in Palestine. We always have such a wonderful time and never want to leave....even as a kid I remember not wanting to leave and being so sad when I got home wanting to return as soon as possible. I still feel that way even at 30 years old! Especially so as my grandparents are getting older. The kids always have a blast playing outside as there is so much to do. We are always spoiled with good food and desserts and just thoroughly enjoy our time. I know Landon had a really good time too as evidenced by all of the pictures! He literally spent the whole time outside swinging, running around, and his favorite was riding the gator....I see one of those in our near future! My grandparents even planned a weinie roast and we made smores as well and ate lunch outside. We are planning on returning again this summer....we can't wait!

Disney on Ice

On Sunday my mom and I took Landon to see Disney on Ice. Landon enjoyed it although it was disappointing that there was not much of Mickey and the gang as expected. They showcased a bunch of Disney movies that Landon has never seen before so he was not totally into it but he still behaved very well and had fun. Landon, being the observer that he is, liked checking out all of the sights and sounds as well as indulging in all kinds of not so nutritious food....chicken strips, hot dog, snow cone, cotton candy, and Sprite. On Monday morning he went running full speed down the driveway towards the bus yelling "Mickey and Goofy" and kept going on and on about it to the bus driver. Guess he really did enjoy it!

Easter 2009

We had a very busy Easter Sunday! We started off with a visit from the Easter bunny at our house as the kids hunted Easter eggs and checked out their Easter baskets. Then, we headed to church with my parents. Not sure what the point was for Jason and I as we heard none of the service as we were taking turns walking around the outside of the arena (it was held at the Berry Center) with Miss Priss. Man, that girl is loud, persistent, and won't sit still! Whew! No church for her for a very long time. Landon on the other hand sat perfectly still and quiet and was a true gentleman. After church, during the drenching rain, we headed to my parents house for another Easter egg hunt (inside of course!), opening of Easter baskets, and lunch. We then headed home for naps and after that went to Jason's parents house for the same thing as well as Easter dinner. The kids enjoyed playing outside with all of the toys as well as with the confetti eggs. Boy, are our kids spoiled! It was like Christmas! It was a very nice Easter and Emerson sure enjoyed her 1st Easter. Too bad their precious Easter outfits won't fit them for too long, because they sure look adorable. At least they will have professional pictures done in them on April 20th....have to get my money's worth!

Easter Egg Fun

On Saturday morning we dyed and decorated Easter eggs. Landon thoroughly enjoyed putting all of the stickers on the eggs, of course in his meticulous and particular fashion! Emerson preferred to get in the way and into everything....what else is new? :) By the way, every time we tell Landon to smile he gives us this huge cheesy grin that is quite funny looking. Apparently, it's the look of a 3 year old!

School Easter Party

On Thursday Landon had his Easter party at school. They had a craft activity, circle time where they read a book and sang songs, Easter egg hunt, and a snack. It was so cute watching them sing songs all gathered in a circle and making all the hand motions to the songs. Precious! Landon seemed to have fun, even though he is shy and acts differently when we are there...his teachers say he is different during the day as he participates in everything and is very social. He was the same way last year too. It's very interesting! But, I think I was the same way too when I was little.

11 Months Old

It is simply unimaginable that Emerson is 11 months old. It feels like just yesterday I was rocking her in my arms all swaddled up at two in the morning. Now, she's a curious, independent, very social, active, and feisty 11 month old....she's a fighter! But, she melts my heart! Especially with her smile and giggle. It's really neat to see her personality come through and how smart she is. She amazes me everyday. She always wants to be on the go whether it's crawling, finger-walking, or cruising. She doesn't want to be held and will literally dive out of your arms. She's not walking yet as she doesn't quite have the balance, but it won't be long as she is fast when finger-walking. She's into everything and is very persistent when she wants something and will not give up. She's even been known to throw herself on the floor and cry in a tantrum....wonder where she learned that from? Emerson is finally getting a little bit better about eating table food. We have finally got her to eat puffs and are trying everything we can. She's just really picky and has aversions to textures. And, she only has 2 teeth. She also finally drinks from a sippy cup properly but sometimes needs help tilting it back far enough. She is starting to repeat a lot of words that we say and is pretty good at it. She says mama, dada, night night, nuhnuh (almost like Nana), bottle, and a few others that she repeats. She even starting barking like a dog (she LOVES dogs) and mooing like a cow this week. It's hilarious! She also waves "hi" and "bye". It really does amaze me to see how much she learns in such a short time span....she really is a sponge! Whenever we say it's time to eat she starts whining and will crawl to the oven, pull up, and reach for the bottle warmer. She is a fast learner and makes associations very well. I could go on and on about how much she has changed and how fast she is growing up. I'm sure I'll be emotional at her 1st birthday party!

To the Rescue!

We got a surprise visit from Uncle Kenny last weekend. He was on a call by our house so he decided to swing by for a visit afterwards. Landon was very shy and scared at first, but then opened up and enjoyed checking out all of the details of the heavy rescue truck including the drivers seat, the lights, and sirens. Of course Jason probably had even more fun checking out all of the compartments and fun tools. Amazing what things this truck can carry....2 jaws of life, axes, drills, hammers, every type of tool you can imagine, oxygen bottles, and even a place to re-fill the oxygen bottles. It's actually good to see that our tax dollars go to something useful!
