Barnyard Party

On Saturday we went to Cora's 3rd birthday party in Pearland. It was a barnyard theme and Dennis and Alexis sure now how to throw a party. They always go all out and the kids always have a blast. Nice job Dennis & Alexis! Oh, and delicious cookies Renee! I ate 2! The kids loved the petting zoo of course and Emerson actually willingly rode the pony without us putting her on the pony screaming until she warmed up. We were sitting under the tent in the hot shade and she saw the pony walk by and she immediately jumped out of her chair saying "pony ride it" and ran over to get in line. She rode the pony three times and loved it! Landon enjoyed their swing set and played with several other kids on it for a long time and they both liked the arts/crafts...sand art, decorating foam sunglasses and bracelets, and coloring in the custom made coloring books with a picture of the birthday girl on the cover. They also had a bounce house, popcorn machine, snow cone machine, and all kinds of delicious snacks, food, drinks, and sweets. Like I said, they always do a great job! It was a perfect party (minus the heat)and the kids did not want to leave. It was nice getting to visit with old friends too, even though I was pretty busy chasing around Miss Priss keeping her out of trouble and preventing her from torturing the animals in the petting zoo. She thoroughly enjoyed jabbing her fingers in the rabbits' eye over and over and grabbing every single animals' ear....she was giving me an anatomy lesson! :) Landon woke up on Sunday morning and the first thing he wanted to do was to color in his "Cora coloring book". Happy 3rd Birthday Cora!! We had a blast celebrating! Thanks for having us!

It looks like Landon is squatting to go potty, but he was getting down by the precious pig. The little guy was so hot and was trying to get in the water bowls.

Emerson with a tight grip on the rabbit. She wasn't letting anyone take it away! When it was time to put him back I had to literally rip him from her strong grip.

Beginning her anatomy lesson...the eyes! Poor bunny! She kept jabbing him over and over.

Anatomy lesson #2...the ears. She went and grabbed all the ears of every single animal. Think we have a zoologist or vet in the works?

Exhausted from the heat.

Dinosaurs at the Zoo

I took the kids to the zoo last Monday and we met up with April and Alden. We got there at 9:45am and it was already blistering hot. After lathering the kids in sunscreen we headed in to see the new dinosaur exhibit. The kids loved it and so did we as it was all very shaded and much more cooler so we walked through it twice. The kids rode the carousel (always a favorite), ran all over the place, especially Emerson who really needed a leash as she ran from animal to animal, and we enjoyed our lunch by the pond and checking out the giraffes, elephants including the new precious baby Baylor, the lions, komodo dragon, and the aquarium (where there was a/c to cool us off!). We didn't get too much done as it was so hot and we spent most of the time chasing the kids in all different directions and avoiding meltdowns. We were walking to the car by 12:30pm. But, we have all been to the zoo probably 20 times or more so we have seen and done it all. We will go again when it's cooler!

Father's Day at the Astros Game

For Father's Day on Sunday we went to the Astros game with the kids (it was Emerson's first game), Jason's parents, Jason's brother Kenny, sister-in-law Julie, nephew Barrett, and Julie's parents, brother, sister-in-law, and two nephews. Whew! There were 15 of us!! The kids did really well, especially since we had a whole row to ourselves and basically another whole row in front of us. Both kids even lasted all 10 innings! The cousins loved hanging out. Emerson was her usual busy body self and I don't think she even noticed there was a game going on until loud cheering or when the train made noise. Both kids LOVED all the music and songs as they both clapped, cheered, and sang to it all. Emerson particularly liked doing "the wave"....so cute! Another favorite of course was the food and drinks as they ate it all. The kids also liked playing in the kid play zone and we were going to run the bases after the game but since the game ran into extra innings it was too late and the line was long. After the game we headed out for dinner to celebrate Father's Day and had the kids in bed by 7:45pm as they were exhausted from a busy day and Emerson didn't have a nap (which she was very good considering that).

Enjoying some lollipops which always come in handy when they get wild or ansy

Good Food, Good Friends, Good Fun

On Saturday we got together at our good friend's house, Chad and Tammy, as they are finally back in Houston after 5-6 years of living in Louisiana. Tammy has been trying to get back to Houston since the day they moved there! :) We ate fajitas and all the fixings as well as lots of sweets. The kids enjoyed swimming and playing and eating junk until they exploded! Emerson had fun jumping into the pool, even doing so a few times when there was nobody to catch her...crazy girl! We even had a jam session with their 13 year old twins Cody and Collin (Chad and Tammy also have a 4 year old who is their nephew that they adopted and have had custody of since he was a newborn....thank God for good people like them!!!) who are awesome at the guitar, drums, and singing. The kids LOVED it as they both danced, sang, and Landon laughed like crazy. It was hilarious! It was so much fun to all get together again like the good old days only it's a little different now as we all have 2 or more kids. We stayed until 10:30pm as it was so much fun and the kids didn't want to leave. We look forward to many more fun times together and great memories!

Of course Emerson has to take a break from swimming for a bite of mommy's homemade chocolate chip cookies!
