Gettin' Some R&R

On Tuesday Landon was with Nana and spent the whole day with his cousins Barrett and Weston playing. That is one thing Landon sure has enjoyed this week and throughout the summer is just getting to play a lot and be a kid. He has already expressed his thoughts on school starting in one month and he is not happy one bit. It will be a tough transition, that's for sure. While Landon was gone Emerson and I went to gymnastics, ran some errands, and picked up Chick-fil-a for lunch. She must of been tired from staying up late the night before because she fell asleep while in the drive through, without the car even moving. She then spent the rest of the afternoon playing, painting, playing with her stickers, and then surprisingly asking several times when Landon would be home. She really missed him and almost didn't know what to do without him as I guess they have got used to playing together a lot this summer. She typically doesn't care and likes to play on her own with her own stuff. Everyone all meet for dinner at Gringo's while I went for a girl's night out with a group of some of my sweet girlfriends at Pappasitos. We stayed there until 11pm just talking. Love my GNO!! The kids and I then spent all day Wednesday and Thursday at the house. It was so nice to not be on the run, but holy cow my house looked like a tornado touched down and it was like WWIII with all of the sibling fighting going on. But I will say Landon was in the best mood and didn't whine or complain as he got to play with whatever he wanted literally all day long. We also painted again, colored, used dot-dots, and had movie time. I didn't get too much accomplished as I caught up on my DVR shows and wasn't feeling 100% as my allergies have been in high gear and my eyes look and feel terrible. I have had red, itchy, peeling, and swollen eyes and eyelids (top and bottom) for almost 2 months now and this week they have become blood shot too. Miserable! The allergist on Tuesday when I was getting my shot thinks it's because I had to switch allergy sprays thanks to insurance no longer covering it. I guess after 10 years on the same spray your body gets used to it! He put in a request telling the insurance company that I have to have that particular brand. In addition to the spray and monthly shots I also take 2 pills and have been adding Benadryl to the mix too. Hope something works soon because my eyes looks like I'm a drug addict!! :) I did enjoy the two days though of no make-up and wearing pj's all day.

Family Day

Jason took off work on Monday and we had a fun family day. We first went to the Houston Museum of Natural Science and saw the brand new Hall of Paleontology exhibit. It was incredible as there were tons and tons of new things to see. I could of spent hours in there reading about the exhibits, but the kids were zooming through as they were dying to see the big dinosaurs and boy there were a lot. They had a hard time not touching everything and got told by several security guards that were everywhere not to touch even though they were at their eye level. Too tempting! The big dinosaur exhibits were incredible! They did get to touch some teeth from a T-Rex and a Stegasaurus. With each dino Landon would yell out "Whoa!", "How cool!", or "Oh my goodness!". He was really impressed while Emerson preferred to giggle and look at their bottoms...crazy girl! They both also enjoyed checking out the prehistoric dino poop. Yes, they have some on display and both kids loved it and that's all they talked about. :) There was also an exhibit that showed the evolution of humans and that was pretty cool. Of course the kids thought the heads were funny and wierd. After the dino exhibit we breezed through all of the others since they have seen those 2-3 times prior. Both kids enjoyed the fake animal exhibits as usual and all of the hands on activities in the energy and chemistry exhibits. After the museum we headed to our favorite pizza place, Romano's, for some yummy pizza. Landon talks about how much he doesn't like all of the other pizza places and that their pizza is yucky. He wants the real deal! Of course what is a meal out with our two without several bathroom trips and 2 cups of spilled Sprite. Never a dull moment! After lunch we headed to Menchie's for some frozen yogurt (M&M's and chocolate chips for Emerson) out on their patio. Yum! Then it was home to change and go on a very long bike ride. Landon always wants to ride several miles from our house to Mason Rd. where he has always wanted to ride bikes in the tunnels under the two road bridges. So, his wish was finally granted. Emerson hitched a ride in the trailer as she can't make it long on training wheels. We ended up riding for over 1 hour and 15 min. and probably around 8+ miles all over the neighborhood. We stopped to let them play at one of the parks and we rode around our two lakes. Landon never got tired or at least every time I asked him he said he was fine. It was such a nice bike ride as it was cooler and breezy and the kids didn't have a chance to fight and whine. So peaceful!! After our bike rides Jason's mom came and got Landon for him to spend the night. Poor sweet girl Emerson was so upset as she thought she was going. She even put her pj's on and had her pillow, blanket, and assortment of dolls/stuffed animals ready to go. She was heart broken, but we promised her all kinds of fun things to do just with us. She painted, made a princess mirror with plaster mold, and got to stay up late watching a movie of her choice (Ice Age Dawn of Dinosaurs) with snacks on the floor like a slumber party. She loved it and ate the attention up! She didn't go to bed until after 10. It turned out to be a good night but she sure missed Landon. When laying in bed with her that night she started crying telling me how much she missed Landon and how sad she was that he wasn't sleeping at our house. She wanted him back home. They fight when they are together but sure miss each other when they are apart! The next day she kept asking when he was coming home so she could play with him.
