Last Hoorah

For the last week of summer we went swimming with some friends (in the rain for part of the day, which they loved!), played outside, went to Blue Bell (where the kids were very intrigued, enjoyed the tour, and Landon was full of questions) and the Southern Flyer Diner in Brenham, visited Busha, had 3 doctor appointments, attended meet the teacher for my new 1st and 3rd graders, and the kids spent the night at my parents house and played outside, inside with their village, had movie night, and more. A great way to wrap up a great summer!

Gala of the Royal Horses

I decided to splurge on VIP tickets for Emerson and I to go see the Gala of the Royal Horses at the NRG Arena.  This is the first time that they are touring in America.  The show featured foreign breeds, the Arabian, Lipizzaner, Andalusian, and Friesian (my all time favorite dream horse!).   It showcased those breeds, their history, and talent.  They were amazingly beautiful as were their trainers/riders and the brilliance behind the lead trainer, the person behind the Gala of the Royal Horse, Rene Gasser.  I have no idea how he gets the horses to do what they do.  We spent the show transfixed in our front row seats (feet away from the horses) with mouths open and lots of "ahhs" coming from our mouths.  Emerson was so interested and amazed.  After the show was over we got to meet the trainers and the horses, pet the horses, and talk to the trainers.  Emerson went from horse to horse multiple times during that 20-30 minute period.  She shoved her way in their to pet and talk to each beautiful horse.  I couldn't pull her away and we were one of the very last people to leave.  It was such a neat experience that I know she will never forget.  For me, seeing the love, passion, and awe in her eyes and on her face was priceless for me!  Her love of horses and all animals makes me happy.
