Past Week

This past week has been crazy and busy as usual. Each week this summer Landon has had speech therapy on Tuesday, gymnastics on Wednesday, and Gymboree Music on Thursday. We also do play dates on Monday or Friday with some of his friends. And, in between that I try to do the usual "stay at home mom duties" such as cleaning, organizing, grocery shopping, paying bills, keeping up with 2 scrapbooks, tons of doctors appointments, phone calls, etc. Thank goodness my mom comes to watch Emerson so I am able to go to the store without 2 kiddos in tow and still do the one-on-one activities with Landon so he gets his time and does not feel neglected. There is NO WAY I could of done it without my mom. Needless to say things will get interesting come August and September when Landon starts school and also in November when he will probably start speech therapy 2 times a week at the local public school. In the meantime, I take it one day at a time!

Emerson has been doing much better now that the Reglan is out of her system and she is back on Prevacid. She sleeps 8-10 hours at night and is now taking about 2 naps a day ranging from 2-4 hours. She still has her good days and bad days, but it is much better. Unfortunately, her acid reflux symptoms are getting worse, but she is handling it much better than Landon did. So, we are going to see a GI (they are booked until September....yikes!!) to get things checked out and make a better plan for the medications. She generally is a good baby, loves to smile, loves to stick her tongue out, is a drama queen (does not hesitate to let you know when she does not like what you are doing or when you change something,) and insists that she is not a baby and is a big girl. She HATES laying down or being held like a baby. She wants to be sitting straight up with minimal support on the end of your knee or on your hip while you entertain her by talking or making noises. She LOVES watching T.V. and will literally strain her neck to see it or even try to sit up on her own using her stomach muscles. If you try to deny her the ability to watch the T.V., she will throw a fit....so funny!! She gets very aggravated when Landon crys/screams or messes with her. It is her way or the highway! She gets bored VERY easily and is very active as she never sits still. The doctor said it seems that she will be the feisty and active one....God help me!! Can it get worse than Landon?? :)

A model in the works? Posing for the camera

She loves hanging out on her changing table

Smiling away at Daddy of course

She likes to stare at her bows hanging on the wall when she is laying on the changing table

Cutie Patootie!

Screaming because she is mad that Landon sat in the chair with her. Drama Queen!

Emerson's Baptism

Emerson was baptized on Sunday and both kids did WONDERFUL in church. I was pleasantly surprised! We had all of the family over afterwards for fajitas, all the fixings, and cake. It was such a great time and we really enjoyed having all the family together, especially my grandparents who came in from out of town. It was their first time to meet their great-granddaughter. We are so blessed to have such wonderful family!!

Could it get any cuter than this?

Pictures with Rev. Godfrey Hubert. He married Jason and I and baptized Landon.

Emerson kept staring at Godfrey and smiling

2 Months

Happy 2 Month Birthday Emerson! Boy, has the time flown by! Things have been very crazy lately. We have had some serious issues with her acid reflux and medications. She was having a side effect from Reglan (which is a very scary drug that I wish she would have never been put on to begin with) where she was restless, jittery, and was not sleeping (insomnia). Hence, why she stopped sleeping through the night. Yes, her vomiting and spitting up episodes almost diminished, but it is so not worth it. Reglan apparently causes severe depression, withdrawal symptoms, Parkinson's-like symptoms, and many other scary things. Thank God she was only on it for 2 weeks before I did some research and abruptly took her off of it. Now she is sleeping through the night from about 9:30pm-7:00am (sometimes she will not wake up until 8:25am). NICE!!!!

However, we are having some big time issues during the day....she used to always take 2-3 good, long naps and now she is not. We can't figure out what is going on as she wakes up (and struggles to fall asleep) after exactly 40 minutes every time. Nothing has changed, so we have no idea what is going on. It is like she wakes up before shifting into the final, deep stage of sleep. Most days she has pretty much no naps. It is very frustrating as she is cranky and over-tired the rest of the day. We are thinking it still might be from the Reglan and her body adjusting. Who knows! She also is still coughing, choking, gagging, vomiting, making "throaty" sounds (sounds like she is congested), drooling, and squeaking (very unusual sound that GERD babies make as the acid comes up). Poor girl! I just pray that we find the right combination of meds. and formula to help her out. We will be going to a Pediatric GI as soon as the referral and clinical paperwork is complete.

Now, on to some pictures from today. I'll have more pictures to add in a few days of her baptism on Sunday.

Have You Smiled Lately?

If this doesn't make you smile, then I don't know what will! Emerson is little Miss Smiley for her daddy. Even in the midst of a horrible crying fit she still smiled big for him and several times. All I can get out of her is one or two little smiles or a smirk. Sounds like the makings of Daddy's Little Girl!

On a side note, Emerson has had a very rough week where she has not been sleeping well (no more sleeping through the night and little to no naps), eating well (gagging/choking and screaming during a feeding), and screaming like crazy. So, off to the doctor we went again today and it was determined she has a cold (hence the congestion, runny nose, and cough for the past 1 1/2 weeks) and more intense acid reflux. We switched meds. again and are now attempting Prevacid with the Reglan and added Nasonex for the cold. Only time will tell...... In the mean time, I am going crazy!!!! She did weigh 11 lbs. 2 oz., so she is definitely still gaining weight as evidenced by the numerous rolls on her legs!
