Warrior Dash Photos

Here are some pictures that I purchased the downloads from through the photographer that was at the Warrior Dash. It was such a blast! I am already looking forward to next year's race. Next year it's on March 16th in Bellville, which is way closer to us than Splendora, if anyone wants to join us. I am also considering signing up for the one on the beach in Galveston that is in October. Anyone want to join me? We could make a fun family weekend out of it.

Warm Weather + Candy= Success!

Emerson finally had her second soccer game on Saturday as the past 2 weeks we were off due to a rain out and spring break. I was worried how she would do this time around. Thank goodness the weather was warm as last time was a disaster! She even told me getting out of the car "Mommy, it's not cold so I'm not going to sit in your lap and cry!". So, she actually got out there for practice and was kicking the ball like a pro. Of course she had her purse on the sidelines (she wanted to hold it while playing) and it was full of the usual junk as well as candy that she stashed in there from the parade right before. She's very sneaky and somehow got it past me. She played almost the whole game too only coming to the sidelines during the middle of the game to get a drink and to beg for candy. I gave in and gave her some skittles. Bribes work well for her! She would run around the field chasing the ball and then right in the middle of it detour over to me to get some more skittles. She seriously carried skittles in the palm of her hand closed up tightly during most of the game. My mom went to give her high five and discovered the melted skittles. Hilarious! I was so proud of her playing! She was happy as a clam. I don't think she ever actually touched the ball but she sure ran all over the field chasing the ball/kids. 100% effort on her part. We all had to keep yelling for her to run and to get the ball. I can't get over how big she looks and she looks so darn cute running and kicking the ball. I would say game #2 was a huge success!! I guess skittles will be going in our game bag for Saturday! :) I have some precious videos that I will attempt to upload too.

Parade & Opening Day

On Saturday the sports association that we are now involved with that is within our neighborhood had the baseball/softball parade and opening day ceremonies as well as our first t-ball game. It's so nice being only minutes away from all of the practices and games!!! Sure beats the 40 minute drive in traffic for weeknight games as in our prior seasons! The association out here has nice facilities and is so family friendly. So glad we made the switch! It's way less stressful. The parade started at 8:30am and the boys all met at the elementary school at 7:30 to get the truck ready. Emerson had a soccer game at 9am so I rushed up to watch the very beginning of the parade with my parents and then we rushed over to her game just in the nick of time. I wish we could of taken part in the parade more but I didn't want her to miss her 2nd game and I felt like it was important for me to be with her at her game as this is her first season of playing in a sport. I sometimes feel like she gets the shaft being the youngest as we have all been there for everything of Landon's! The boys had a blast at the parade throwing candy and beads and watching the thousands of people all lined up along the streets. Jason said it was quite an exhilirating sight! It's apparently a huge tradition out here with over 90 vehicles. After the parade stopped at the baseball complex there was an actual opening ceremony with a prayer, national anthem, speech, and first pitch. All 89 teams were on the field for it. There were booths and activities there too. The kids took early afternoon naps/rest time and then we headed back up to the fields for Landon's first game of the season. They are the Braves this time around. We have quite the MLB collection now! I have to say, the league is less competetive but it was a nice change as everyone seemed more relaxed and had fun. Landon played SO well! We were in awe and a lot of parents even come up to us or him to compliment on how much he has improved. He played 2nd base and had about 3-5 awesome stops and each time he backed up his friends and went to cover 2nd base when needed. It was like he knew exactly what he was doing and that it was all second nature. So impressed! It could be that we also bribed him with a snowcone! Guess we need to plan on buying one after each game. He had a good attitude and didn't act up or get discouraged as he did last season or during practice. Part of it is having dad as a coach....you know how that works with parents vs strangers. Fingers crossed for the remainder of the games to be the same. Regardless, I am so proud of him! After the game a big group of players and parents went out to eat for some good food and adult beverages and then we went to one of the parents house, our good friends Chad and Tammy, for some fun and play time for the boys. They had a ball and we didn't get home until midnight. Great night with an even greater group of parents and kids!
