Touch A Truck

After a birthday party on Saturday we headed to a local church for "Touch A Truck". I have read about these events at other churches and was so excited when I saw the flyer for this one out near us. The kids LOVED it so much! They enjoyed going from vehicle to vehicle and climbing in and out of them. Landon said his favorite was the fire truck and army truck and Emerson sure liked the huge 18 wheeler tow truck, especially honking the loud horn over and over again. Of course Jason liked the sports cars. They also had a robot out there with the Sheriff's department that was quite entertaining but a little scary as it talked, moved around, and danced to music (one of the Sheriff's was guiding it/speaking for it). Here are tons of cute pictures as they had such a great time. The people that were volunteering were so nice too. One man showed the kids how the glider worked and another lady showed the kids how to sail on the sail boat.

Thursday Play Day

I started my part-time teaching job last Thursday. I will work Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Monday and Wednesday I work while Emerson is at school (I only work 4 hours a day) and on Thursday my mom watches Emerson. So this year Emerson gets a play day all by herself with Grandma. She loves finally getting some alone time and attention! This past Thursday she got to meet my parents new dog Maggie, play dress-up, feed Mrs. Olga's fish next door, and play with bubbles. A fun filled day! I'm sure she will look forward to Thursday's. Now we have to get her to not talk all about it to Landon as he is feeling left out. Poor guy loves school but would definitely prefer a day or two off during the week just to be a kid. In kindergarten they don't get to be kids anymore. During meet the teacher Landon looked around the room and asked, "Mom, where are all of the toys and things to build?". He complains at night when it's bed time that he didn't get to play much and that he didn't get to play at school. :(

1st Attempt

Here are some pictures from our first attempt at taking off Landon's training wheels. The majority of the kids his age are riding bikes without training wheels (and to school), but we gave him a little bit more time as he has struggled with motor skills in the past. He started riding his bike later too. He was behind on some of his developmental milestones when he was little, mainly fine and gross motor skills. It's going to take a while as his balance is not the best and the second he gets scared even though Jason is right there to catch him he decides he is done. I think he is so used to relying on the training wheels and he has to learn not to lean to the sides as they are not there to catch him. Tonight he wanted the training wheels back on. We will try a little at a time. Emerson enjoyed lending moral support and ran right alongside him and Jason. She doesn't want to miss a thing!
