New Years Eve

It was another year of partying with our neighbors to say goodbye to 2015 and to ring in 2016.  The kids played inside and outside with all of their friends, college football was watched, and we had a pot luck dinner with food galore and the guys fried catfish and homemade french fries and there was also hot dogs and deer meat.  It was a bit chilly so we were all in and out of the house and by the heater and fire pit when we were outside.  Around 10:30pm we put on our firework show and then watched all of the other shows around us at midnight as our neighborhood is full of fireworks.  Most of the kids made it way past midnight while the parents were yawning away.  Stormy had fun and actually seemed to enjoy the fireworks.  She wasn't scared, but in awe and actually watched as each one went up and then down.

Aggie Basketball Game

We went with my parents a few days after Christmas to our first Aggie basketball game at Reed Arena in College Station vs Cal Poly.  It wasn't that crowded since it was Christmas break and the bowl game was the next day, so parking was super easy as well as getting to our seats.  It was a good game and the kids enjoyed the atmosphere.  Looks like the Aggies are going to have a great season as they are continuing to do well.  Emerson didn't really watch the game, but Landon did and he was intrigued and asked questions since it's been about 1-2 years since we've last been to a Rockets game, although sometimes he watches it on TV if I am.  Emerson would say her favorite part was the junk food, specifically the nachos (keep in mind we ate dinner before we went too) as she ate the entire huge portion, even licking the cheese!

Christmas Day

We got to spend Christmas at our house and not rush anywhere like we typically do after breakfast or before lunch.  The kids woke us up around 8:30 and tore into all of their stuff that Santa Claus left.  Even Piggy and Stormy got some goodies!  The kid spent the whole day playing with their loot of stuff and had a ball.  They really enjoyed the pictures that Franklin left for them...he took selfies with them while they slept and before he went back to the North Pole.  Santa sure had a lot of cookies and notes left for him that night.  We also opened up gifts from each other.  Emerson got some horse grooming accessories which then caused her to cry because she thought she was getting a real horse.  And once she realized she wasn't, she was in tears.  Then the tears came even more when she thought about Franklin and how much she missed him.  Several times over the next few days she would spontaneously break down into tears because she missed him and wanted him back.
